Dr. Marius Meintjes grew up on a rural farm in South Africa, which led to his decision to pursue a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, Medical degree, and Ph.D. He became quite experienced in assisted reproductive technologies while treating animals. While obtaining his doctorate in reproductive physiology and embryo biotechnology at Louisiana State University (LSU), Dr. Meintjes was active in developing innovative techniques in assisted reproduction, which allows for some of the best treatments for infertility patients. His efforts are responsible for saving endangered species in Africa, the first IVF calf from a pregnant calf, and much more. Dr. Meintjes is now the CEO and Director of Laboratories at The Frisco Institute for Reproductive Medicine and is one of the top three embryologists in the United States. Previously, he served as the Program Director and Scientific Director for the ARTS programs at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, and Harris Methodist Hospital. Outside of the laboratory, Dr. Meintjes frequently conducts national and international speeches on different topics related to reproductive endocrinology. Lastly, he has also been involved in publishing book chapters and papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals. With his long list of accomplishments, Dr. Meintjes has realized that being at the top of his field is not what life is all about, which is why he always puts his relationship with God and his family at the forefront.
